11 January 09: Phase I - The man is there for scale. This is just the skeleton of the ship; I'm building from the inside out.

Top, front - I'll be starting on the outside next; it'll be red with a white stripe. I have very little idea of how it will look. This is an experiment...

Main Engines - When I first saw the rubber band holders I thought they'd make great engines; this was my chance to test the idea. (I like them.)

Same view... just a bit wider

Front - In the middle is a big gun, to the sides are thrusters. Between these will be an interior.

Bottom - The main engines have an extra port at the bottom for take off.

21 January 09: Phase II - As promised, colour! Several in fact! As you can see, I'm not finished yet.

Shuttle - Up front is a removable shuttle.

My next job is to cover the directional thrusters. They should end up around twice the size.

To the starboard side is planned a cargo area of similar size. This might be skipped if time is tight. I really don't want to though.

Shuttle: Mated - When mated this is used as the pilothouse of the ship; the command center will be in the main body of the ship.

Shuttle: Mated - The shuttle's weight is completely suspended by the grey docking clamps. I wasn't sure if I could make this strong enough without technic re-enforcement, but so far it seems OK.

Airlock: Closed - I really wanted to have two space pods (similar to what's in 2001) but I realised that it would take too long to design those as well as the needed hatch. Thus I put the probes here, instead of on the top and bottom as planned. These stay in place with pinned plates.

Airlock: Open - You won't see the airlock top in the finished version!

Here the shuttle has been removed. The grey projections hold the shuttle in place. The yellow door was a failed concept that I still hope to find a use for...

Probes - The idea is the black are more used for secret missions, and the yellow are used when they want to be seen...

Shuttle: Rear - There is access via the rear to the main ship. I don't like this hatch much, but since we have only three photos it isn't that big a deal; nobody will see it! I'll try to work out a better solution later but it's hard due to the available room. You can also see two of the 'Door Rail' pieces here that slides into the docking clamps.

Shuttle: Front - The nose piece is another piece that I saw as a ship piece straight away but haven't found an excuse for yet. I was going to use that trick in Impartial II, but I'm not sure now. (It's from the ice hockey sets...)

26 January 09: Phase III - I've skinned the main directional thrusters and finished the tops and sides. More detail might be added if time permits, but I doubt that will be the case.

Rear - The sides turned out largely as planned... but some of the detail I wanted to add hasn't happened as I didn't have as much of certain pieces as I thought I did.
